Spider-Man: Brand New Day Swinging Towards a Spot in The Top 5 Highest-Grossing Movies

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has seen one of the most colossal releases in recent times. It has not even been a month since its official premiere, and it is already closing in to enter the top 5 list of highest-grossing movies worldwide.

Last year we saw Ne Zha 2 silently climb the list, reaching over a lifetime gross of over $2.7 Billion. A feat of similar nature has now been achieved by Spider-Man with the latest release in the series. Not only has this movie managed to earn a lot of money for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) but also revived the hype surrounding the release of Avengers: Doomsday this December.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day Top 5

MCU has been seeing a weak couple of phases, with only a handful of them raking in the numbers. The hype was beginning to wither. This is exactly when The Fantastic Four: First Steps brought out the first glimpse of Doctor Strange in this universe, followed by Spider-Man: Brand New Day elevating the excitement for the upcoming movie.

Tom Holland and Zendaya have been having an exciting year sharing appearances across two of the biggest blockbusters of the year, namely, Spider-Man: Brand New Day and The Odyssey. Just a few days back, The Odyssey created history by overtaking Deadpool & Wolverine to become the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, with a lifetime collection of over $1.4 billion.

Now Spider-man: Brand new day has embarked on a similar generational run. Within just 29 days of its first premiere, they have amassed over $2.19 Billion, closing in on Titanic’s lifetime collection of $2.64 billion. At this pace, crossing James Cameron’s Avatar (2009) doesn’t seem like an unbelievable feat anymore.

In 2009, Avatar did the impossible and within just 41 days of its release surpassed James Cameron’s other hit, Titanic, with a global collection of over $1.8 billion. While Avengers: Endgame dethroned Avatar in July 2019, they reclaimed their title with a theatrical re-release in China back in March 2021.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day is showing no signs of slowing down, collecting more than $29 million during their fourth weekend.
