As the countdown to Jana Nayagan enters its final stretch, the makers have unveiled another song from the much-anticipated film. Titled Adiye En Poonthene, the track arrived on Friday, offering audiences an emotional glimpse into what appears to be one of the film’s most heartfelt relationships.
Anirudh delivers an emotional melody
Composed and sung by Anirudh Ravichander, the song is penned by lyricist Karthik Netha and centres on the bond between a father and his daughter. Featuring Vijay alongside Mamitha Baiju, the visuals hint at a quieter, more intimate side to a film that has largely been marketed as a mass entertainer.
Unlike the high-energy promotional tracks released earlier, Adiye En Poonthene leans into sentiment, with Anirudh’s understated vocals complementing the emotional weight of the lyrics. The song has quickly become a talking point among fans, many of whom have welcomed the softer glimpse into Vijay’s final outing as a leading man.
The release comes just days after Jana Nayagan completed its certification process with an ‘A’ certificate, making it the first Vijay-starrer to receive the classification in recent years. With the film set to hit theatres on July 23, the makers have now shifted their focus towards the final leg of promotions.
Vijay’s cinematic farewell arrives on July 23
Jana Nayagan occupies a unique place in Vijay’s career. It marks the actor’s 69th and final film before his complete transition into full-time politics. After launching Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), Vijay went on to secure a historic victory in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections, with the party emerging as the single largest force in the state by winning 108 seats. The timing has inevitably added another layer of significance to the film, with audiences viewing it as the closing chapter of one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars.
Interestingly, Vijay’s character in the film is named Thalapathy Vetri Kondan, sharing the initials TVK with his political party. While the makers have not commented on whether the similarity was intentional, the detail has fuelled discussion among fans since it was revealed.
Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan features an ensemble cast led by Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol and Mamitha Baiju. The supporting cast includes Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani, adding considerable depth to the project.
The film also marks KVN Productions’ maiden venture into Tamil cinema, with producer Venkat K Narayana backing the ambitious project. Expectations have remained consistently high ever since the film was announced, owing to the combination of Vijay and Vinoth, who is known for balancing commercial spectacle with socially rooted storytelling.
Jana Nayagan is understood to be a partial remake of the 2023 Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari, which starred Nandamuri Balakrishna. While the broad emotional foundation has reportedly been retained, the Tamil version is expected to feature several changes tailored to Vijay’s screen persona and the narrative’s larger political and emotional context.
With Adiye En Poonthene adding an emotional touch to the film’s promotional campaign, anticipation continues to build for what promises to be one of the biggest Tamil releases of the year.
