After years in development, Kartik Aaryan’s Captain India has finally gone on floors. Directed by Shimit Amin, the much-awaited project is currently being shot in London. The film was first announced in 2021 and has since undergone changes, with Amin now taking over as director.
Kartik shared a note from Amin on his social media, in which the filmmaker thanked the cast and crew for staying committed to the project despite the challenges they had faced over the past few months. “As we embark on this journey to finally make our film, I want to thank each and everyone of you, from the bottom of my heart,” Amin wrote.
He further acknowledged the team’s determination to make a good film, adding that their energy had carried him through some of the toughest moments. “I can feel that each and every one on this team carried the burden of wanting to make a really good film. I find that so magical. I feel your energy and it carries me through our toughest times,” the note continued.
Sharing the note, Kartik wrote, “Ready to fly with the Maverick #ShimitAmin #CaptainIndia.”
The actor also unveiled his first look from the film, sporting an Indian Air Force pilot’s uniform.

Captain India is inspired by a real-life Indian evacuation mission from a war-torn country, with Kartik playing a pilot at the centre of the story. The film is being mounted as an action drama and has a screenplay by Nash Vazifdar, Sanchit Gupta and Priyadarshee Shrivastava.
The project also marks Shimit Amin’s return to feature filmmaking after Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year and Chak De! India.
