It looks like the long suspense surrounding the release date of Ram Charan’s upcoming film Peddi has finally ended. The rustic action drama will hit theatres on June 25, a date that had been widely speculated. Director Buchi Babu Sana shared the much-awaited release update at the pre-release event of the Dhanush-starrer Kara on Sunday in Hyderabad. The announcement was met with cheers from the packed crowd at the venue. While the news was expected to be unveiled on a grand scale, many fans are calling the development a “soft launch.”

Fan pressure prompted soft launch?
Peddi, co-starring Janhvi Kapoor and Shivarajkumar, had faced two postponements this year. It missed its initial March slot as well as an April date. These delays led to heavy pressure from fans on social media, who were constantly demanding a concrete update from the director. More than a song, they wanted the release date to be confirmed. Buchi Babu finally gave in to that pressure at the public event. Such on-stage reveals often go viral instantly. This spontaneous declaration has created a buzz among Mega fans.

Shruti Haasan for special song
Meanwhile, the film is in its final leg of production. The team is currently filming a special song in Hyderabad. This dance number, choreographed by Jani Master, features Ram Charan and Shruti Haasan together. The period film is set in the 1980s. The special song is expected to have a folksy flavour. AR Rahman appears to have tapped into the natural energy of this sports-based action drama. The soundtrack has already stood out for its uniqueness. Chikiri Chikiri and Rai Rai Raa Raa have emerged as lively tracks. This new folk number is expected to be a major highlight for the masses. Rahman has balanced the period setting with modern, foot-tapping beats. The shoot will wrap up once this vibrant song is completed this week.
After Peddi, Pushpa maker Sukumar will wield the megaphone for Ram Charan’s next film. The project is expected to be announced during the Peddi promotions or immediately after the film’s theatrical release.
