However, the biggest surprise of the night was the film, Anora. The film is directed, written, and edited by Sean Baker, who went on the stage five times for accepting five trophies.

For the uninitiated, Sean Baker’s Anora won the Oscars for Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Original, Best Picture, and Best Editing. Anora is based on the life of a young stripper who impulsively marries the son of a Russian oligarch. Before winning five Oscars, Anora won the Palme d’Or award and performed tremendously at the box office. Anora was made on a budget of just 6 million USD, and it went on to collect 41 million USD.
