Jayasurya and Vinayakan are all set to return to the big screen together with Titans, which has been scheduled to release in theatres on October 1. The makers announced the release date on Sunday through social media, sharing a new poster featuring the film’s principal cast.
Directed by Prince Joy, who made his debut with Anugraheethan Antony, Titans is billed as a fantasy comedy. The film is scripted by James Sebastian, who previously co-wrote the comedy Janamaithri. While details about the plot remain under wraps, the fantasy-comedy tag suggests that the film will take the two actors into a space that allows for a blend of humour and the supernatural.
Titans brings together a sizeable ensemble that includes Suresh Krishna, Indrans, Manikandan R Achari, rapper Baby Jean and social media content creator Nihal Nizam. The cast also features several newcomers, adding to the film’s mix of established performers and fresh faces.
The technical team includes Vishnu Sharma as the cinematographer, while Shameer Muhammed handles the editing. Dawn Vincent has composed the music. The film is jointly produced by Midhun Manuel Thomas, Irshad M Hassan and Pradeep CS.
Jayasurya and Vinayakan reunite
For Jayasurya and Vinayakan, Titans marks their fourth film together. The actors have previously shared screen space in Chathikkatha Chanthu, the period drama Iyobinte Pusthakam and the popular Aadu franchise. Their earlier collaborations have seen them occupy very different spaces within their respective stories, making their reunion in a fantasy comedy an interesting one.
The new film also adds another title to what is shaping up to be a busy period for Jayasurya. The actor is currently shooting Mayan – Chapter 1, which is being directed by Jithin K Jose, the filmmaker behind Kalamkaval. Jayasurya is also awaiting the release of Kathanar – The Wild Sorcerer, one of the most ambitious projects of his career.
Directed by Rojin Thomas, Kathanar is a fantasy adventure that has been in the making for several years and is expected to present Jayasurya in a radically different avatar. The project has generated considerable anticipation for its visual scale and use of virtual production technology.
Beyond that, Jayasurya has Operation Tral in his upcoming slate. The film marks the directorial debut of composer Ratheesh Vega and is described as a military action thriller. The project recently wrapped up shooting, adding another genre to the actor’s increasingly varied lineup.
With Titans now locked for an October 1 theatrical release, the film arrives at an interesting point in Jayasurya’s career. The actor has been moving between mainstream entertainers and more ambitious genre projects, while Vinayakan continues to bring his distinctive screen presence to a wide range of roles.
