Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is aiming for a massive opening at the box office on Day 1, August 26. Mounted as a large-scale event spectacle packed with high-voltage action, the film has generated considerable anticipation among audiences who believe it warrants a big-screen experience.
Telugu States to expect booming demand
Advance bookings opened early in the Hindi market. According to Sacnilk, the box-office tracker, Toxic had sold around six lakh tickets even before advance sales opened in the Telugu States. Bookings for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are set to open today, August 24. The film has already been witnessing strong early demand in the Hindi market as well as in Karnataka, Yash’s home turf.
Going by the response to the Hindi and other dubbed versions, Telugu bookings are expected to gather momentum quickly once the counters open. The Nizam market, particularly Hyderabad, is expected to witness a wide release. Early trade reports suggest that Toxic could occupy a substantial share of screens currently playing other major releases in the city.
Rs 2000 crore prediction
At the film’s pre-release event in Hyderabad earlier this week, producer Venkat K Narayana spoke confidently about Toxic’s prospects. He described the film as an ambitious project and expressed complete faith in the creative team, calling it a major step towards taking Indian cinema to a global audience. The KGF actor echoed that sentiment, saying he was determined to take Indian cinema further onto the world stage.
Meanwhile, producer-distributor Dil Raju, who is releasing the film in Telugu, revealed that composer Vishal Mishra had made an ambitious prediction while working on the background score. According to Dil Raju, Mishra believes Toxic could gross Rs 2000 crore worldwide.
Two days ahead of its release, the makers also shared a note reflecting on the film’s making. They described Toxic as a fairy tale both on screen and behind the scenes, highlighting the coming together of talent from across the world and the collective creative process behind what director Geetu Mohandas has described as a kind of “peculiar alchemy.”
Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas, stars Yash alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara and Rukmini Vasanth. The film will release in six languages on August 26 and has a runtime of 194 minutes.
