Pregnant mother of five, Emma Atkinson visited her father, David Atkinson, in Burmantofts, Leeds on October 22, 2024. At that time, she was about seven to eight months pregnant. Notably, her father resided on the ninth floor of the 10-storey building, Shakespeare Towers. At one point, Emma opened a window to “get some fresh air”. Her father requested her to close it, but she said “I’m off” and reportedly deliberately propelled herself outward.
Recently, it was revealed that David told Wakefield Coroner’s Court that his daughter asked for a cigarette right before her fatal fall. At that time, Emma sat near the wide-open window, and her father thought that she wanted to smoke. However, her real motive was to jump out from there, as per her father. David told the court that he thinks his daughter visited him on the ill-fated October 2024 night solely for the purpose of propelling herself 90 feet.
